The seventh Lunar New Year Festival organised by the Chinese Community Association of Tasmania celebrated the Year of the Pig today on Parliament Lawns in Salamanca. This family event has grown bigger and better every year and includes stalls selling food from China and it’s neighbours, entertainment, activities for the children, information stalls, and the dragon dance!
Pork and Chive Dumplings $5, very fresh and satisfying
Chicken Satay from Yellow Rice Kitchen, generous and flavourful with some killer fermented sambal on the side
Squidlipop from Formosa Bites, my favourite festival food! So tender and juicy, everything is right about this dish
Chicken Satay Sticks $5, so very good
Steamed Beef Bun $5 from Deep End Farm in Geeveston, rich meat enveloped in a pillowy soft exterior. They rear the cattle themselves and make some very tasty dishes, another festival favourite
thanks for a great write up of the event.
